The spacious living is hard to resist at Boulder Creek Estates

June 19, 2015

Would you drive 20 minutes from Calgary to get twice as much new home living space for the same price as in the city?

That’s what people are doing with Stepper Custom Homes’ lineup of new homes at Boulder Creek Estates in the community of Langdon. There’s no comparison between a typical city lot and those found at Boulder Creek Estates, says Lynn Desilets, area manager with Stepper.

Larger homes are common in the community because the lots average about 62 feet wide and 132 feet deep, “that’s twice what it is in the city,” Desilets adds. He says you can buy a Stepper home with an expansive lot and GST starting from the mid $500,000s.

“It’s such a great value that people really need to come out and see it for themselves,” says Desilets. People will also see how those larger lots translate into more living space. Desilets says all of Stepper’s homes in Boulder Creek Estates have at least a three-car garage, and some have an extended third bay for a fourth vehicle or a large workshop.

But even with a three-car garage, he says many models of homes would still leave a 12 to 16-foot-wide side yard, in addition to the large back yard. The side yard could provide storage for an RV, or allow a home owner to landscape their property with a playground for the kids, a hot tub, decks, or other features.

Stepper is offering eight different home models in Boulder Creek Estates, including two-storey floor plans and bungalows. Two-storey models average 2,100 to 2,700 square feet, with three bedrooms and a bonus main-floor den.

Stepper’s Stonestown model features an impressive interior courtyard. Bungalow floor plans include one that measures 1,681 square feet with soaring 10-foot-high ceilings and a large open basement ready for future development that would add another 1,100 square feet of living space.

Stepper’s show home in Boulder Creek Estates is the 2,400-square-foot Manchester. It’s a two-storey floor plan with a four-car garage and dramatic great room starring 11-foot-high ceilings. Desilets says standard features include niceties such as granite counter tops in the large, functional kitchens; a mix of hardwood and tile flooring, and dual zone high-efficiency furnaces in many models. He says in addition to the sizable lots and large homes that Stepper offers at Boulder Creek Estates, many people are drawn to the lifestyle that Langdon provides.

The community of just under 5,000 has two local schools, playing fields, skateboard park, dance studio, karate studio, along with restaurants, bakery, deli, local doctors offices, and other services. A new shopping centre with supermarket recently opened, yet Langdon remains a peaceful place to live, says Desilets.

“It’s really the quietness of a small community but with great access to the city,” adds Desilets. He says it is only a 20-minute drive to Chinook Centre via Glenmore Trail, 20 minutes to the airport via Stoney Trail, or the same amount of driving time to Mackenzie Towne Shopping area.
