How to Know if a New Suburb is Right for You

January 6, 2017

Choosing where to live is an important decision for any person, couple, or family. You want to make sure you have a good home, but also want to make sure it is close to the things you need. It is often assumed that urban areas have more resources, but in many suburban and bedroom communities, everything you need is a quick drive or even walk from your new home. Check out our list of reasons why living in the suburbs is the best!

1. More Bang For Your Buck

One of the most appealing aspects of a new community is that they have bigger lots at lower prices than in more urban areas. When the lots are less expensive, you save thousands on your home purchase price.

These bigger lots also mean you have bigger yards, garages, and laneways. This is perfect for you if you have an ATV, RV, playhouse, or vintage sportscar. Big lots are great for Fido too, with enough space to run around, and enough for a dog run.

When you have larger lots, you also have the ability to get a larger home. Floorplans maximize space, and have extra areas like bonus rooms, mud rooms, full laundry rooms, offices, and more bedrooms. As your family grows, this extra space will evolve to be what your family needs.

2. Community Amenities

New communities are close to new schools, as they are built. Your children are automatically able to go to those schools, which are often within walking distance. New schools also come with completed park and palyground space, which makes it a convenient spot for your family to have fun.

New communities are also surrounded with new shopping. Stores are either a momentary drive away, or even walkable. You spend less time shopping when everything is one location, like grocery, drug stores, and hardware, and more time living your life. These areas are also actively building a community, so they make sure to have recreation, libraries, daycares, and restaurants nearby. All are essential to making communities thrive.

3. Being Close to Nature

Suburbs and bedrooms communities are blessed with a slower pace than their city counterparts. There are less interruptions, traffic, and noise in these quiet areas. They have safe, new playgrounds, dog parks, and pathways to wander.

These communities also benefit from their close proximity to areas outside the city. A five minute drive gets you on the road to all points North, South, East, and West. You can get to the mountains, lakes, campgrounds, and trails much faster and easier when you don't need to navigate city traffic.
